Dominion's Cigarette Beetle Defense

Lasioderma serricorne

If you’re spotting bugs in your spices or your smokes — trust us, it’s not just a weird craving. You’ve got cigarette beetles.

Cigarette Beetles are small, reddish-brown beetles best known for infesting stored products — especially tobacco, dried herbs, spices, pet food, and even books.

Despite their name, they don’t stop at cigarettes. If it’s dry and organic, it’s on the menu.

These beetles are about 2–3 mm long, and they’re strong fliers, which means they can spread quickly from one room to another once they get inside.

Cigarette Beetles usually hitch a ride into homes and businesses via contaminated goods — especially imported food, tobacco, or herbal products. Once inside, they hide in dark, undisturbed areas and reproduce rapidly. A single female can lay up to 100 eggs in just a few weeks.

Sign of a Cigarette Beetle infestation include: tiny brown beetles flying or crawling near stored food or tobacco, holes in packaging, fine powder or dust near infested items, or the presence of larvae or shed skins.

If you’ve spotted any of these signs, it’s time to act — fast.

Though Cigarette Beetles don’t bite or spread disease, they can destroy valuable goods and ruin inventory.

For commercial facilities like smoke shops, grocery stores, and food manufacturers, this can mean major product loss and compliance issues.

We start all Cigarette Beetle treatments with a thorough inspection.
